“At the same time as the city is nervously bustling around them, a group of artists have occupied this space on the edge of inside and outside, between contemplation and consumption. The sculptures they are exhibiting are set in this in-between space: between productivity and fatigue, between expenditure and loss. Although at first sight absent, the body is lodged in the interstices of these forms, for example through the passer-by’s images appearing on a reflective surface, or through the portrait of a man who has hardly been allowed to enter history. There are objects whose function has been annihilated, which have become containers of an obsolete use: a hollowed-out computer, warm ice packs, prostheses added to radiators or motors running until exhaustion. These goods, as much in conflict as in adaptation with the space they occupy, have proudly abandoned their commercial brilliance, becoming instead, luminous in their precariousness.
